FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Challenge is open to any individual or group between the age of 15 and 25.

Entries are $20 per film.  You can request a waiver by sending an email to dlasseur@civiclifeproject.org

Yes, but only one vote per person is allowed.

No. The submitted film will be disqualified if anyone votes more than once for that entry.

Send an email to info@civiclifeproject.org describing the problem you encountered.

There are three rollling deadlines:

  • January 31, 2020
  • April 17, 2020
  • June 29, 2020

Your film will be shown on our website, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Early entries get top exposures!

We will be offering free webinars and video tutorials (see toolbox)

The jurors will screen all qualified entries and vote to designate finalists and winners.

The film receiving the most votes online by the June 30 deadline will be awarded the Public Choice Award and will be screened at the award ceremony.

January 31, April 17 and June 30 deadlines

The top film in each category will receive a $1,000 award for documentary and $500 for the social media work.

The final Democracy 2020 Youth Film Challenge competition will gather all the films selected from the three deadlines and will be judged by a jury of young men and women together with distinguished media professionals. Selected films will be presented at an Awards Ceremony in September 2020.

Documentary Category

  • First Prize: $5,000
  • Second Prize: $2,000
  • People’s Choice Award: $1,000

Social Media Category

  • First Prize: $2,500
  • Second Prize: $1,000
  • People’s Choice Award: $500
