A Connecticut-based filmmaker and journalist drives cross-country to live the life of an Uber driver in the state where their wage is the lowest in the country: Florida. On a literal level, this is a study of the lives of gig economy workers and the platforms on which they rely, but the piece is also an investigation of that reliance, examining the hostile socioeconomic system that forces them to work in their cars to stay financially afloat. This is a story of resilience, made in the middle of a pandemic with a hybrid of remote and in-person interviews.
